Bird Watching in the Lake District

The headline grabbing birds that visit the Lake District are inevitably, the Osprey and the Golden Eagle.

The Ospreys of Bassenthwaite sound like stately home owners, but are in fact a group of birds that nest each year in North West Cumbria.

There is a viewpoint at Dodd Wood, and an exhibition centre at Whinlatter. Both close over the Autumn / Winter and re-open in April each year.

The solitary Lake District Golden Eagle nests at Haweswater, near Ullswater.
