Description Brathay Lodge, Ambleside, is a traditional English Lake District B & B which was originally built as two semi detached properties around 1890 probably to satisfy the demand for guest, B&B, hotel and Pet Friendly accommodation by the Lake District tourist industry which was then in its infancy. The property is of a contemporary style B & B. The brief to the interior design team was to create an informal atmosphere conducive to unwinding with high class guest accommodation to a high quality hotel / B & B standard. We, like most guests, believe that this is what has been created - a very different bed and breakfast, an extremely pleasant warm and friendly place where you can enjoy banter with the family and staff or have peace and quiet - whatever you require. Situated towards central Ambleside, Lake District, Brathay Lodge is within a few minutes’ walk of over 30 eateries offering a wide range of cuisine.  There are also numerous gourmet restaurants and inns within a short drive of Ambleside - something for all tastes and all budgets. For that reason we have decided to specialise in deluxe guest accommodation on a B & B basis only. Most of our guests visiting Ambleside on a short break or as part of an even longer Lake District vacation tend to leave their cars on our large private off-road car park for the duration of their stay, preferring to take advantage of our proximity and enjoy the many local walks during the day and the restaurants and bars of the evening. Walkers / mountain bikers / golfers etc, both casual and serious, like Brathay Lodge's informality and enjoy the facilities on offer and if it's wet or muddy, there is always a place to dry out those wet clothes and footwear overnight. Bedrooms We have 19 rooms available all with king size beds, these are made up of standard, superior (ground floor, pet friendly included), twin, triple, quadruple, family rooms (sleeps 3-5) and four poster suites. All rooms are en-suite with Jacuzzi spa bath and shower over, tea & coffee making facilities and colour T.V's. A variety of family rooms have a king size and two single beds with ¾ partition wall with external balcony access. The Four Poster suites overlook the front with wonderful Lakeland views across to the churchyard and fells beyond which has been described by Lake District National Park officers as probably the best in Ambleside. A wireless network allows guests to connect their personal laptops to our Broadband Internet connection from most rooms and a PC is available in the lounge area where that is not available. We are a non smoking establishment but we have several rooms which have their own external access to a covered seated area for those who wish to smoke. We also welcome pets into these rooms as they have wooden flooring which enables us to thoroughly clean and remove all allergy inducing particles. These rooms provide luxury accommodation in the style of a motel and are very popular as they enable a greater degree of freedom. Facilities For the benefit of our guests we are also members of the exclusive Langdale Country Club which is a very pleasant scenic short drive towards the Langdale valley. Guests during the course of their stay may use their leisure facilities which include a 20 metre swimming pool and gym. (These facilities are subject to availability and restrictions which the Country club may impose on us from time to time.) There is also a beauty parlour where massages and general pampering is on offer. We have a delicious Breakfast Buffet Menu to get your day off to a great start! Just a stones throw from the restaurants and shops of Ambleside and a short stroll to the lake itself Brathay is ideally situated for your break in the lakes.
