Mountain Biking News Work has started on the longest purpose-built mountain-bike trail in the Lake District at the Whinlatter Forest Park located near Keswick.
The bike trail is 19km long and is part of a large project to enhance the visitor facilities at the Forestry Commission's Whinlatter Forest over the next year. This will involve building 15km of new single track trail for families and mountain bike fans.
The trail is being built by trail builders Clixby's, who have worked with the Forestry Commission on other projects. The work is scheduled to take up to seven months to complete and the new bike trail with exciting features including rocks,steps,jumps,rollers and drops will be officially unveiled to the public at the end of the summer.
