Description The Fell And Rock Climbing Club was founded in 1906-07 and the first informal meeting was held at the Sun Inn , Coniston on 11th November 1906 and the first General Meeting at the Wastwater Hotel on 30th March 1907. Since then the club has grown to about 1100 members who are spread all over the world but who found their mountaineering origins in the Lakes. Membership of the club is normally by proposal of one full member and seconded by another. A candidate would normally be expected to attend at least three club meets and participate in the activities of the club before the committee considered the application. They would also be expected to be a competent fell walker or rock climber with experience in the Lake District at all times of year. On election candidates are elected as Associate Members for a period of three years after which they can be elected to full membership on review of their mountaineering activities during that time We also have a Youth Graduate Membership scheme for those aged between 16 and 18.
