Glenridding

Glenridding village lies on the southern shore of Ullswater. The village is a popular tourist destination especially with mountain walkers who can scale England's third highest mountain, Helvellyn and numerous other peaks from here.
There are a couple of Youth Hostels and excellent camping sites.

Glenridding owes its existence to lead which was mined as far back as the 17th century and above the village you can see the lead mine.

The Ullswater Steamers operate from here and they started in 1859 carrying cargo and passengers around Ullswater.
Near to Glenridding is the Aira Force waterfall.
