Make yourself at home on the shores of Lake Windermere, we have a 6,000 acre estate that is yours to explore. Freedom and fresh air is all part of the experience when you stay at Graythwaite Home Farm. We offer a range of individual self-catering holiday cottages. If your priority is convenience, the converted farmstead is ideal - with a children’s play area, table tennis room, swimming pool and fitness suite. Something more private? Secluded cottages and conversions within the estate’s grounds allow you to relax in style and take in the tranquil surroundings. Some are on Lake Windermere all have breath taking views. Properties range in size from small cottages for two to large conversions sleeping ten. We pride our self on maintaining high standards, all premises have central heating, open fire or wood buring stove (Logs provided) and modern kitchen appliances as standard.
  If you need more space for a wedding or a corporate event, we can accommodate large parties - we’ll even organise the catering for you.
Be it a romantic break for two or a large family gathering, our speciality is traditional yet modern accommodation in a beautiful location. All cottages are finished to the highest standard with comfort in mind and modern kitchens are of course equipped with everything you could wish for, microwave, a large fridge / freezer and washing machines come as standard, the most cottages have a dishwasher. If you are planning to visit the Lakes during the winter months, rest assured that each cottage has central heating and an open fire or wood-burning stove to guarantee a cosy stay.

Facilities at Graythwaite
6,000 acres of woodland, farmland, lake frontage onto Windermere, Graythwaite's garden and the famous fishing at Esthwaite.
Why not while away a few hours fly fishing on our trout lake? Free to use for guests, the lake covers 2.5 acres and is stocked with brown and rainbow trout - just the thing for a summer barbeque.
The garden is also free to guests - a 12 acre Spring garden set in a wooded valley with an extensive collection of rhododendrons and azaleas. Both the garden and lake frontage onto Windermere are a short walk from the main Farmstead.
Graythwaite is ideal for families, with woods to explore, hills to climb, a lake to swim in and miles of traffic-free tracks to cycle along. Can't fit the bikes on the car? Don't worry, bicycles can be hired locally and if you need guided routes for mountain biking or walking.
Had enough fresh air? We have an indoor swimming pool, games room and fitness suite (the fitness suite is £20 per person per week or £15 per person per weekend). All our cottages have a DVD and free view channels, most have Sky TV package, kitchens are fitted to the highest standards. To enhance our environmental policy we have our own water supply which comes from one of the estates fresh water tarns, we have regular checks carried out by environmental health and the water is filtered then passed through an infra red system, however, we do advise guests to boil water before drinking.
Mobile reception is limited within the area so please take this into consideration if friends, family or colleagues are trying to contact you during your holiday. You will pick up a full signal within about 500meters of most locations. We have a public telephone within the main court yard next to reception. If you want to keep in touch in the real world we have wireless internet access at reception which is free of charge. All beds are made up with duvets for your arrival. Please bring your own towels. In association with Cumbrian Way Food, we are now able to offer you good quality home-cooked food for you to heat up in your own self catering accommodation. Cooked by Jason our qualified chef in an 18th century converted barn on the Cumbrian Way in Chapel Stile. Our food is produced using locally sourced ingredients in keeping with our 'food miles' ethos and enabling us to support local farmers producers and local residents. Tariff
Prices start at just £329 for a week
Prices are fully inclusive for weekly rental, with rentals being Saturday to Saturday.
Personal insurance is not included and there is a £20 charge for your dog. Prices include VAT (where applicable).
Winter Holidays: The cottages are available all year around.
Short Breaks:these are available between November and March. Out of season, the change-over days are Friday or Monday, while short breaks from Friday to Monday or Monday to Friday are offered at a reduced price of 75% of the weekly rent.

Directions Finding us by road - Leave the M6 at junction 36 and join the A591 to Kendal Barrow and the Lakes.
- After approximately 4 miles you will see a sign for Barrow A590, leave at this slip road and stay on the A590 following signs to Barrow.
- After approximately 10 miles you will enter Newby Bridge. Go straight across at the roundabout and after 400m turn right over a hump back bridge towards the Swan Hotel.
- Follow signs to the Lakeside Hotel (You will be on this road for about 4 miles). You will pass the Lakeside Hotel on the right and then the Bobbin Mill on the left. You will then pass two signs for a YMCA camp on your right hand side. After the second YMCA sign you should proceed for a further mile to the top of the rise and you will see a formal set of gates on the left. Turn left at the gates following the sign posted to Rusland and Satterthwaite. Go for a quarter of a mile and turn right at the sign saying Graythwaite Holidays. As you enter the court yard reception is on the right.
- You should aim to arrive between 15.00hrs and 17.00hrs on the day of arrival. Peter Whitehead will meet you.

- All beds are made up with duvets, towels and Cot linen is not provided.
