Description

Lancrigg Vegetarian Country House Hotel timeless charm comes from it’s unrivalled position overlooking the serenity of Easedale. Whether on foot, car or local transport, you are half a mile away from the Lakeland village of Grasmere.
You can walk from our front door into the magical splendour that is the appeal of this part of the English Lake District. Or maybe you would prefer to wander through the 30 acres of gardens on our woodland walk.
You will be following in the footsteps of none other than William and Dorothy Wordsworth who discovered Lancrigg soon after arriving in Grasmere.
One aspect you will really appreciate is the total absence of traffic noise - the silence punctuated only by the sound of nearby waterfalls and birdsong.
It comes as no surprise that Lancrigg became a meeting place for the ‘Lake School of Poets’. Delightful woodland walks leading to spectacular views of the fells were all part of the grand design. The quiet corners of the garden are a favourite for those who like to while away the hours with a good book. The Green Valley Café and Vegetarian Restaurant.
Rooms
12 individual and comfortable bed rooms including....

The John Richardson Room (above right photo)
This exceptionally spacious room, which was originally John Richardson’s library, is now a beautiful bedroom to make a special occasion or holiday really memorable. There are magnificent views across the valley of Easedale, which John Richardson described as ‘more beautiful than the valley of the Mandela’ and there is a private door into the garden.
The room has a lot of character, one of the features being a wonderful unusual plasterwork ceiling.
There is a lace draped four poster bed and also a magnificent free standing bath actually in the room but cocooned within lace lined curtains.
The Azalea Suite (above left photo)
The spacious and peaceful room looks out over magnolias and azaleas - which in spring are a delight of scent and colour.
The bedroom has a king sized bed and an arch leads into the front lounge where there is a beautiful view over Easedale.
The bathroom has a whirlpool spa bath. Dogs are allowed, but not in the John Richardson, Azalea or Kitty Crag rooms. We ask they are not left in the room unattended and are not allowed in the lounge or dining rooms. We make a one off charge of £15 per dog.
