Lake District Weather
It rains a lot in the Lake District. That's to be expected as we have mountains that are very close to Morecambe bay and the Irish Sea. Always check out the weather forecast if you are venturing out onto the fells. going climbing, or kayaking, but be aware that the area is prone to developing extreme micro climates. The only certain way to find out if your chosen Lake District location will have decent weather is to turn up. The hamlet of Seathwaite in the Borrowdale valley is recorded at the wettest inhabited place in England, having a mean annual rainfall of 3,100 mm. Yearly totals however can vary by up to 2,500 mm.
