Nestled in Grasmere Village in the heart of the English Lake District, Oak Bank Hotel is perfectly placed to explore the surrounding lakes, fells and tarns.

Oak Bank has two lounges both with plenty of comfy sofas and armchairs to relax in. The front lounge has a converted range and the bar lounge has a real log/coal fire and unsurprisingly a bar!
Breakfast and dinner are served in our Two AA Rosette awarded beautiful dining room and conservatory overlooking the garden which you are welcome to sit in or walk down to see the River Rothay as it passes by on its way to Lake Grasmere.
Park your car at the front of the hotel and you could leave it there for the duration of your stay!

We have membership to the Langdale Spa, great for a swim, sauna & steam, a workout or treatment and offer free Wi-Fi internet access for those of you who need to keep in touch with the outside world!

Whether you can only stay for one night or a week, we assure you that our aim is to make your break or holiday a peaceful and relaxing one.

Oak Bank has fourteen individually decorated en-suite Bedrooms in three different grades to suit your requirements:

Standard Rooms

The six standard rooms have a double bed and a shower room en-suite.
Two are on the first floor with the other four on the second floor.

Superior Rooms,

There are five superior rooms which are slightly larger than standard with king size beds in two rooms and super-king or twin beds in three rooms.
In Room 11 we can fit a Z-Bed in to take a third person.
They all have en-suite bathrooms with a shower over the bath and are all situated on the first floor.

Superior Plus Rooms:

The three Superior Plus Rooms are all very different:
The Iris Room is on the first floor and has a king size four poster bed, en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath and a balcony with reclined easy chairs facing south.
Room 15 is a large room on the first floor and has super-king or twin beds, a sofa that can convert into a small double bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower over the double ended bath.
The Acorn Suite is a large room on the ground floor and has its own front door, super-king or twin beds, seating area, and a spa bathroom en-suite.  The bath does have a shower attachment but you are not able to stand under the shower.

All Bedrooms have a flat screen Television with the available Freeview and Radio Channels for Cumbria, Hospitality Tray, Hairdryer, Shaver Socket and Bath House Toiletries.
In addition, Superior and Superior Plus Rooms have complimentary Still and Sparkling Lakeland Willow Spring Water.
Superior Plus Rooms also have a Cafetière with Farrer’s Ground Coffee and Bathrobes.

Dining at Oak Bank will be a highlight of your stay.
Why?
Well, we have a deservedly good reputation for our food because we use top quality fresh ingredients, many locally sourced from reputable suppliers within Cumbria if possible, to produce great dishes - we even make our own breads, pasta, sauces, jus, sorbets and ice creams, so if you have an allergy to something, we should be able to tell you exactly what is in the food.  Apart from that when a dish is made from scratch it just tastes better, however, we do let Heinz make the beans and HP the brown sauce for breakfast!
The AA also rates our restaurant as they awarded us a Rosette in 2009 and then Two Rosettes in April 2010.  The criterion for achieving this award is "Excellent restaurants, which aim for and achieve higher standards, better consistency and where a greater precision is apparent in the cooking. There will be obvious attention to the selection of quality ingredients."
Dinner is normally served between 6.30 & 8.00 p.m.
Make yourself comfy in one of the lounges as you peruse the choice four course daily changing menu, maybe with an aperitif from our well stocked bar.
A selection of fine wine from around the world is also available to complement your meal.
When your food is almost ready to be served we will take you to your table, to enjoy dinner at your pace not ours. A variety of coffee or tea can be enjoyed with petit fours in the lounges after your meal.

Breakfast is served between 8.15 & 9.45 a.m. Monday to Saturday inclusive and slightly later on a Sunday between 8.30 & 10.00 a.m..
After a comfortable night's sleep choose from our extensive breakfast menu, whether you’d like a light breakfast of fruit then freshly baked croissants, or muesli with yoghurt then smoked salmon and scrambled egg, or a more hearty breakfast of porridge then the Oak Bank Grill, we will set you up for the day, whatever you plan to do.

Oak Bank exclusive use:
We have had small weddings, birthday parties, reunions, office and walking parties take over the whole hotel just for themselves!
What you choose to do is up to you but we will make sure your requirements go according to plan, from drinks on the lawn to fireworks and music; from champagne and canapés through seven course dinners...it’s all possible.
