Description
Claire & Stephen Shepherd welcome you to the Ouse Bridge – our homely Edwardian house in the stunning setting of Bassenthwaite Lake and Skiddaw. We are in a peaceful part of the Lake District away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds, offering relaxation, tranquillity and the prefect chance to get away from it all. From the moment you walk through our door, you will be warmly welcomed into our home where you will enjoy the first class hospitality, fantastic food and beautiful scenery.
We offer spotless high quality accommodation with little extra touches to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.
We provide a relaxed atmosphere, excellent service, delicious food and value for money in a stunning and peaceful location.
It is in the perfect situation to explore the Lake District and a great place to get away from it all.
The Western Fells provide a stunning backdrop and whether you want to go walking, rambling or cycling, horse riding, bird watching, golfing, sailing or fishing, it is all within easy reach. A short drive will take you to either the bustling market town of Keswick, or Cockermouth, the childhood home of William Wordsworth.
You can also explore the Solway coast, Hadrian’s Wall or nip across the border to Dumfries and Galloway.
Each April the Osprey have been returning to their nesting place close to Ouse Bridge Hotel. They have been nesting here annually since 2001 and stay until September when they head south to spend the winter in Africa. There are view points close to the Ouse Bridge.
We also offer various theme nights and weekends packages and rates are available on request..

Dining
At the Ouse Bridge we offer home-style food but with style focusing on simple but delicious dishes using the freshest ingredients, much of which is locally sourced.
In the morning wake up to a delicious “Cumbrian” English breakfast freshly cooked to order using high quality local produce. Or if you fancy something lighter try free-range scrambled eggs on toast or a variety of fresh fruits, cereals, juices & thick creamy yoghurt.

We also offer dinner during certain months, so after a long day spent walking, sightseeing or touring there is no need to have to go out and find somewhere to eat. Instead you can simply come downstairs and relax with a drink and enjoy a beautifully cooked meal. For more details on our menu please click here.
The months we serve dinner are February, March, April, May, certain times in June, the last week in August, September, October and New Year. If you would like to have dinner please book in advance of your arrival and please note that we do not serve dinner on a Sunday evening except on Bank Holiday weekends.
We are also fully licensed and offer an Honesty Bar for Guests. So you make yourself at home and enjoy a drink either in our cosy lounge or on balmy summer evenings sit outside and enjoy the sun setting and glowing red over Skiddaw.

The Ouse Bridge House is situated between Keswick and Cockermouth close to the shore of Bassenthwaite Lake in the hamlet of Dubwath. Exit the M6 at junction 40 and take the A66 Westbound towards Keswick. By-pass Keswick on the A66 following the signs for Cockermouth.
The road follows the western shore of Bassenthwaite Lake for about 5 miles. There is a short stretch of dual carriageway (this used to be the old road and has a number of bends).
Approximately 250 yards after the end of the dual carriageway take the first right turn onto a minor road, signposted Dubwath & Castle Inn.
After just 50 yards, turn right again onto the B5291, signposted for Castle Inn. The Ouse Bridge House is a further 50 yards on the left, set back from the road.
