Description
Randlehow Holiday Cottage is tucked away at the end of a quiet access-only lane that houses some of the oldest houses in Eskdale, one of the Lake District’s most tranquil valleys. Itself one of the older cottages on the lane, this lovely holiday house was extensively refurbished in 2004 to create comfortable and spacious self catering accommodation for up to 7 people, with a private walled garden and fabulous views.
Eskdale is a wonderful starting point for hundreds of walks, either on the fells or along the banks of the River Esk, which flows from Scafell at the top of the valley down to the estuary at Ravenglass, an old fishing village complete with a ruined Roman bath-house. The river has natural pools for swimming and is a popular place for canoeing and fishing.
The famous Ravenglass & Eskdale Miniature Railway runs along the valley, its steam trains making the leisurely seven-mile journey down to the sea. - The Green station is just five minutes walk from Randlehow Cottage. There are five pubs in the valley (the Bower House Inn and the George IV are just a ten minute walk away), all welcoming children and serving real ales and a wide choice of good food.
The village shop is just a five minute walk away and sells a comprehensive range of goods, including groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables, food to go, alcohol and newspapers. There is some reception for mobile phones on the Orange network.
Accommodation:
As you walk through the front door of Randlehow Cottage, you enter the large sitting room with its warm wooden floor and cosy open fire. The room is warm, light and airy. There is a TV & DVD player, books to read and board games to play.
The sitting room leads into the kitchen which is fully equipped with an oven, microwave, slimline dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer and plenty of storage space (although some of these are located next door in the additional utility room).
From the kitchen is the dining room which leads out into the garden at the back.
There is also a utility room plus a WC room downstairs.
Upstairs there are three bedrooms - two doubles and one twin. Each bedroom is furnished with wardrobes and storage space.
There is also a bathroom upstairs with WC, bath and separate shower.
Downstairs is an additional single bedroom.
Outside there is a secluded garden with patio area perfect for BBQs. The views are fantastic.
Other Info:
Oil Central Heating Electricity and oil included in the price. The beds will be made up for you.
You need to remember to bring your own towels. The cottage is non-smoking. We can accept one pet (unless by prior consent - 2 max) at the cottage at an additional charge of £15 for cleaning.
There is parking for two cars (they should be parked off the road ie beside the house and outside the garage). Any other cars must park in the car park near the village shop (there are no charges at the car park here).
