Description National Trust Cottages Rose Castle Cottage Rose Castle Cottage is a delightful 19th-century Grade II listed cottage, situated high above Tarn Hows, the iconic Lake District spot. There's fantastic walking from the doorstep - you'll hardly need to get in your car! This is an ideal base at the heart of the Lakes for walking, cycling, fishing or just soaking up the tranquility of the area. You're never far from a teashop or pub too. A 20% discount is available between October and March. Ground Floor: kitchen, sitting/dining room with wood-burning stove shower room with lavatory. First Floor: two bedrooms (1 double with 5' bed and 1 twin). Visitor Notes: Electricity is from batteries charged by a generator. Power point for mobile charger only, there are no other power points available. The wood-burning stove is the only form of heating. Access to the cottage is down a narrow and sometimes uneven track. There is parking for 2 cars behind the gate to the property. There is no television or microwave at this cottage. There is a public footpath which passes the cottage. Water is supplied from a private supply pumped from a bore hole and may be in short supply at certain times of the year. It is an easy drive down the hill to Coniston village for a boat trip on the Steam Yacht Gondola whilst in the other direction you can visit Hawkshead and see Wordsworths old school. Near to the cottage is the esteemed hostelry The Drunken Duck where the food is excellent. In Coniston we would suggest The Black Bull or The Crown for refreshment.
