Tarn Hows

Tarn Hows
Description
Bequeathed by Beatrix Potter to the National Trust, Tarn Hows has a pleasant circular walk on a level pathway (suitable for wheelchairs) with a canopy of cooling conifers. It is surrounded by woodland and has views toward the Helvellyn range and the Langdale Pikes.

It is located close to the Drunken Duck hotel at Outgate (near Hawkshead) where the weary of foot can rest awhile.
Alternatively you can drop down the hill into nearby Coniston village.

Be warned that in summer Tarn Hows is very busy indeed so an early start is recommended!
