Description

Dating from the 17th century, Townend is a classic Lake District home of the kind that would have belonged to the upper echelons financially and socially speaking.
These days it is in the capable hands of the National Trust who have preserved much of the original hand carved furniture and artifacts.
Townend lies in the village of Troutbeck, and the house is set up on the hillside with the massive chimneys typical of the area. Townend also has interesting kitchen and domestic tools to view, as well as period clothing and the servants' rooms to explore. There is a childrens trail to keep the young ones busy.
