Description
Welcome to the Wheatsheaf Inn
Simon and Hilary extend a warm welcome to you at the Wheatsheaf Inn
Our aim is to establish the pub as a focal point for the community, a welcoming stop for travellers passing through and the destination for diners looking for traditional pub food. The Wheatsheaf offers a friendly and relaxed atmosphere allowing you to enjoy any occasion, without the need to rush and where children and well behaved pets are always welcomed.
Our recently updated menu carries all the usual pub classics with some wonderful additions which, we hope, will encourage you to return regularly to try something else. Visit our Food page to see our commitment to providing great homemade food from local suppliers using the best fresh produce.
Alongside our award winning Cocker Hoop and Jennings Bitter Ales we stock the premium continental lager Peroni, Carlsberg, Strongbow and Guinness. as well as an extensive choice of fine wines – all of which are selected for their taste, diversity, quality and value. We also carry a large range of soft drinks for those who have to drive.
We have a very busy social scene at the pub, be sure to regularly check our News page for details on upcoming events at the Wheatsheaf.
The Wheatsheaf Inn is easily found in the centre of Embleton, 5 minutes outside Cockermouth on the old road to Keswick.
Don’t forget, the X4 and X5 buses both stop outside our door!
Our Commitment to Food
At the Wheatsheaf we like to do things a little differently by offering the diner an opportunity to enjoy a whole dining experience in a relaxed friendly atmosphere with great food and great customer service.
The vast majority of our food is made on the premises, using local produce from local suppliers; all our meat can be traced back to its Cumbrian farm.
Our recently updated menu is traditional yet diverse. It contains all the pub classics you would expect to see but with some wonderful additions.
For those with smaller appetites we will happily prepare a half portion from a range of our standard meals.
We have a 38 seater restuarant available for parties large or small. Just call us to book on 017687 76408

Real Ales
We stock a range of great Jennings Brewery ales on draught, including:
A superb golden coloured ale, brewed with English pale Ale malt and using only the finest English aromatic hops.
Traditionally brewed for over a hundred years, using pure Lakeland water drawn from the brewery’s own well.
A full flavoured beer with a delicate hop character, makes this beer ideal for the demanding, modern beer drinker. Cumberland Ale has become a firm favourite nationwide and is Jennings best selling brand outside the Lake District. Cumberland Ale has won silver in 2009 and bronze in this years International Beer Challenge.
A distinctively darker bitter, with a really moreish taste and a very drinkable strength – it makes the ideal session beer.
Brewed with English pale Ale and Amber malt, to give a nutty flavour that supports a subtle blend of English aromatic hops.
Most popular in the Lake District, Jennings heartland, but it is appreciated by countless drinkers in many other parts if the county too. Jennings Bitter is the original beer to come from the Cockermouth brewery. It has won the Campaign for Real Ale Award for the Champion Beer of the North West 2009.
We also stock Peroni, Carlsberg, Strongbow & Guinness, as well as a range of spirits and soft drinks.
Meeting Room
