There are many popular tourist destinations in the United Kingdom but none are quite as idyllic as the Lake District. It´s lush, unforgiving valleys and serene lakes are a testament of the great beauty that England has to offer. The area is so picturesque that hundreds of couples choose it each year to be the place of memory where they can seal their vows and promise each other eternal love. Apart from the romantic side that the district clearly has to offer, there are a large number of activities that people of all ages can embark on. Whatever the circumstance, it is important to first consider accommodation, and what could be better than deciding on a quaint Lake District cottage.

A Pleasant Place

People often choose the Lake District as a holiday destination because it offers respite from the usual distractions that plague us on a daily basis. That is why it is often the wiser choice to select a self catering Lake District cottage as opposed to staying in a hotel or B & B. Whether you are a couple, family or group of friends, there is a large selection of authentically styled cottages that will suit the occasion; many of which are situated near popular mountain trails and rustic towns that exude a sense of ancient culture. The advantage of choosing a cottage to come back to is that you won´t need to go out in order to experience a pleasant evening if you choose; and when morning comes, it will be possible to step out into your own garden and admire the splendour while you consider the day´s plans.

Exquisite Accommodation

While many people would imagine staying in a cottage an old fashioned experience, many Lake District cottages are in fact a fine blend of vintage architecture and modernistic adornment. With options available from two bedrooms right up to 7 bedrooms or more, it is possible to find a cottage that is suitable not only for the occasion but for your budget as well. The majority of choices will contain a state of the art kitchen with a family table which would finally make cooking for many seem like a treat. For those who plan to make the journey in winter months, there are cosy fireplaces installed in each cottage to ensure that its occupants will be able to remain warm and comfortable. With the large selection of Lake District cottages available, both modest and prestige, choosing one will be an experience in itself.

A Treat for Everyone

Anyone who has visited the Lake District has left with fond memories and a wish to one day return. Being the northern most region of England, the people are always friendly and hospitable. The many towns that dot the Cumbrian countryside each contain a unique atmosphere and also offer cuisine of all types. The views are always majestic with the many lakes that give the district its name, and with activities ranging from paragliding and quad biking, to mountain climbing or simply visiting cultural art museums; there is something available for anyone. When considering your next “rest stop”, why not discover the lakes?
