Welcome to the Old Vicarage at Ambleside, more than just a bed and breakfast.

As well as comfortable B&B accommodation, we’re the only bed and breakfast in Ambleside with its own swimming pool and hot tub, sauna.

There’s also a pleasant guest lounge, small snooker table and an extensive terrace.

This takes us beyond a standard Ambleside Guest House experience; more of an Ambleside Hotel experience!

The bed and breakfast is located only 2 minutes walk from Ambleside town centre, wonderfully situated for trips to Grasmere, Windermere, Coniston and Keswick.

If the Lake District landscape is your passion, there is easy access from the front door of the B&B onto the Lakeland fells and with a little effort you’ll enjoy stunning views down Lake Windermere or up into The Langdale’s.

To make this even easier, why not park your car in our private car park and leave it there? Our location in Ambleside makes it easy to walk to the pier for boat trips to Bowness-on-Windermere and Lakeside.

If you fancy a drink or meal in the evening, it’s only a short walk from The Old Vicarage bed and breakfast to an array of Ambleside cafes, pubs and restaurants, all within easy reach.

All of the rooms in The Old Vicarage Ambleside B&B are ensuite and are situated on the ground, first or second floors.

We have a selection traditional and more contemporary rooms, all of which are very clean, comfortable and have all of the facilities you’d expect.
We have five different room types, many of which can accommodate two adults, plus one or sometimes two children.

For those of us with less mobility we have 2 rooms on the ground floor one of which has a ‘wet room’ with wheelchair access.

Included in our rooms we have:
TV with dvd/cd & video player-hairdryer-kettle-mini-fridge-work desk-controllable central heating- bathrobe and slippers- spa bath- separate walk-in shower and w.c.

Recently completed two brand new luxury “Upstairs, Downstairs Suites” at The Old Vicarage.

Both have upstairs bedrooms featuring superb 6 foot 6 inches wide master-crafted, handbuilt English Oak beds and large flat screen televisions with dvd players.

Downstairs, both have sitting rooms with large flat screen televisions with dvd players, mini fridge, hairdryer, kettle & modern bathrooms.

We believe breakfast is the most important meal of the day and serve a traditional English breakfast as well as other options. Wherever possible our foods are sourced locally.

A choice of cereals or muesli, Porridge (cooked to order), Chilled Fruit Juices, Assorted Yoghurts, Fresh Fruit

You won’t find many B&Bs in Ambleside that have their very own heated pool. Fantastic for a leisurely swim, great for a ‘wake-me-up’ in the morning or ideal for a bit of exercise.

Even the rain can’t stop you having a great time here.

All guests are provided with bathrobes, slippers and towels (don’t forget your swimming togs). The swimming pool is open from 8am to 7pm.

We also have a Sauna for those who like to turn the heat up; and a large hot tub where the bubbles soothes those pains away, particularly after that exhilarating walk over the fells.

We have no single rooms but can sometimes offer single occupancy of a double – please check availability with us & add £10 per night. Otherwise the charge will have to be as if correct occupancy.
