Orrest Head House is a truly special house in a country location yet moments from the hustle and bustle of Windermere Village. Dating back to 1672 the building has a pletora historical features, tastefully blended in with chic wallcoverings, tasteful fabrics and cool furnishings.

Ground Floor

The ground floor features a designer kitchen with gloss flint grey units under granite worksurfaces, a central island with sunken prep sink, separate washing area with double draining sink and a lovely breakfast table seating 12 on bench style seats. This really is a chef’s paradise. The appliances include a 7 ring burner, twin fan oven range cooker, 2 American style fridge freezers, one with ice-maker and water fountain, 48 bottle wine cooler, microwave and dishwasher. Everything you need to cater for the extended party.

The majestic dining room has a square table, which seats 16 people (18 at a squeeze). The lounge has 3 of the biggest leather Chesterfields you’ll have ever come across, again seating 16. The room also has a hifi with iPod dock and a large flat screen TV. Filled with light from 2 lovely windows and patio doors, which open onto the sun terrace. This room is a fabulous place to unwind. Perhaps our most unique feature is Josiah Brown’s, our bar. Named after one of the original owners of Orrest Head House who was a local philathropist, this room gives pleasure by the glass, quart or gallon. It’s the perfect party room and is there to make your celebration even more special.

Upstairs

Upstairs there are 5 ensuite bedrooms, all invidually decorated, all with ensuite shower rooms.

Bedroom 1 has a super-king-size mahogony sleigh bed. In the ensuite there’s a roll top Victorian-style bath plus a separate shower cubilcle with huge “watering can” head, plus toilet and sink.

Bedrooms 2 and 3 are both king-size with a special feature in-bedroom bath! Take up a glass of bubbly and relax while looking out over our lovely garden, v.special. They also have large shower rooms with toilet and sink.

Bedrooms 4 and 5 are both triple singles with beds that can be pushed together. They both have lovely ensuite shower rooms tiled in natural stone. Bedroom 4 has views over Windermere village to the lake.

The rear of Orrest Head backs straight onto the walk up through Common Woods to the top of Orrest Head (about a 20 minute hike). This is one of the most opoular short walks in the Lake District. Alfred Wainwright the famous Lake District rambler and author desicribed it as a walk that changed his life forever.
