The Queen’s Head Hotel is an historic 17th Century Coaching Inn, situated in the heart of Troutbeck Valley, just 3 miles from the shores of Lake Windermere.

Stunning solid oak beams, stone flag floors and roaring log fires provide a cosy and traditional welcome, with an Elizabethan four poster bar, deriving from one of the bedroom’s at nearby Appleby Castle, one of the Inn’s many unique features.

Each en-suite bedroom has been elegantly furnished and comprises flat screen TV with Freesat digital TV and radio package , tea and coffee making facilities and our very own homemade shortbread.

You’ll never go hungry at the Queen’s Head and undoubtedly, the hardest thing you’ll have to do here is choose exactly what to eat. It is far better to sample the gourmet pub food at the Queen’s Head than just read about it and we can safely say that our Head Chef and kitchen devotees deserve all the accolades they’ve amassed (although you may not see them on show – they covet only happy diners and their empty plates). Oh, and the beer’s pretty good too!  Choose from local ales standing alongside the regulars at the Bar.

We serve food all day from 12pm until 9pm Sunday – Thursday, and 12pm until 10pm Friday and Saturday. We also serve breakfast to non-residents.
Catering for the whole family, we welcome dogs in the bar area and have a menu designed just for children.
A Sumptuous Afternoon Tea is also now available, £9.95 per person including a selection of freshly made cakes, sandwiches, and tea or coffee. Available 3-5.30pm
