Country Shows and Fairs are part of the Lakeland heritage.
They are run by locals for locals but we don’t mind visitors coming along to see our shows, in fact its a great day out for all ages whether it be show jumping for the little ones or Cumberland Wrestling viewed from the safety of the beer tent.
Most villages have an annual show with livestock and produce,crafts and a hog roast or two.
Might be an idea to wear your wellies though!
Borrowdale Shepherds meet and show takes place on the 3rd Sunday in September annually.
The usual show activities will be found here:
Fell Races, Hound Trailing, Sheepdog Trials, and Craft Demonstrations, Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling, terrier racing, hound trailing.
A full bar and catering facilities are provided on the show field.
The Buttermere Shepherds Meet and Show take place annually on the 3rd Saturday in October. A traditional local show featuring sheep shows, dog shows, crafts and stalls, fell races, Cumberland and westmorland wrestling, and the obligitary beer tent.
Cartmel Show always takes place on the first Wednesday in August at the usual venue of Cartmel Racecourse.

The usual country crafts stalls and food hall will be at your disposal, as will the beer tent and live music.
Coniston Country Fair offers the visitor an insight into traditional Lakeland. It is a wonderful opportunity to see the local pastimes and traditions.
The fair takes place in the grounds of Coniston Hall and is set amongst superb surroundings on the shores of Coniston water against a backdrop of the famous Coniston Old Man and it’s surrounding fells. There is ample parking on the site and the fair is only a short walk from the centre of Coniston village.
The annual Grasmere Sports & Show is held in August
The show features wrestling,guides races,hound trails and dog shows and is a wonderful day out for the lover of lake district country pursuits.
The Millom and Broughton show is known locally as Broughton show, as it takes place in a large field just outside Broughton in Furness.
The usual country show activities will be found here: fell racing, cumberland wrestling, dog, horticultural, agricultural, and poultry classes, driving showing and jumping for heavy and light horses.
You’ll also find craft stalls and demonstrations, along with a beer tent.
